Our history

1985

The start of a family business

Claude A. Barazin, interior designer and stained glass craftsman, founds Vitre-Art in a small 200 m² workshop. Initially dedicated to the manufacture of stained glass and tiles for the burgeoning door and window industry, the quality and originality of his creations quickly gained notoriety. Faced with growing demand, the workshop expands to 2,200 m², automating part of its production and setting new quality standards. Vitre-Art becomes a leader in Canada and extends its influence across North America through a partnership with Arcon Canada. Its exclusive products are exported as far as France, Russia and the Middle East, while being distributed by major renovation centers and window and door manufacturers and installers.

A new chapter begins

Nicolas Barazin, son of the founder, takes over the reins by acquiring all the shares. In his first year at the helm, he revitalized the company’s direction and expanded its activities into various glass sectors, notably architectural glass. He also initiates a major expansion project: the factory-shop is enlarged to nearly 7,000 m² (75,400 ft²), increasing production capacity and consolidating the company’s position as a leader in the glass industry.

Foundation of Chronoglass

Vitre-Art broadens its horizons with the creation of Chronoglass, a division dedicated to specialty glass. This new branch solidifies its reputation as a leader in tempering technologies and other glass treatments, affirming its role as a key player in the industry.

2011

Innovation award for ceramic printing on glass

Chronoglass was honored at the 23rd Trophées Innovation Contech for its ceramic-on-glass digital printing process, marketed under the Imagine brand. This process, the first of its kind in Eastern Canada, uses ceramic-based inks to print directly onto glass. Incorporating a tempering process, the ink fuses with the glass, increasing durability and offering architects and designers extended design possibilities, marking a significant advance in the glass industry.

2017

Advances in tempered glass and integration of thermos glass

Chronoglass has considerably expanded its manufacturing capacities with the installation of a second tempering furnace and a new line for thermos glass, while modernizing the custom double-glazing process. This technical evolution enables the company to respond precisely and efficiently to the diverse needs of its customers, reinforcing its status as a leader in glass innovation.
